coconut shell
Coconut Shell
Providing your gerbils a coconut shell gives the gerbils an extra toy as well as something to gnaw on. An easy way to remove all the flesh and any bacteria form the shell is to place it in a warm oven for an hour. Make sure the coconut milk has been removed first. The heating draws any water out of the flesh. This shrinks the flesh, and it can then be easily removed
  gerbil bites
Gerbil Bites
2 cups cornmeal
2.5 cups flour
2-3 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup sunflower butter (or peanut butter)
1-2 cups water
2 tablespoons butter
dash of salt
Mix all ingredients. Add water until desired consistency and spoon onto cookie sheet. Bake 10-15 minutes at about 350F. You can also dust brewers yeast on top before baking. Or, you can add oatmeal or nuts or seeds to the mixture. You don't have to add sunflower (or peanut) butter.

IF you have a recipe send it to me! so far i had tried all of these recipies and found the gerbil bites easies to make but they make ALOT! so what i did was use the small measurements lil instead of it being 2 cups i used 2 table spoon of cornmeal and 1/4 of a cup i used 1/4 a tsp and so on but i doubled the entire recipe in table spoons and it made 24 gerbil bites

gerbil biscuits
Gerbil Biscuits
Here is a novel recipe that you can make to provide you gerbils with a tasty treat:
125 ml of water,
175 g wholemeal flour,
1 tbsp corn oil, (works well without)
very small amount of honey,
a mixture of seeds
1. Mix flour and water (and oil) together to make a dough. If the dough seems to wet, add a bit more flour. Once the dough has been made, add a small amount of honey, and mix in. Then add the seeds.
2. Roll out the dough until the dough is about 5mm thick. cut into small squares, and prepare on a floured baking tray. At this point, you may wish to make a hole in the centre of the bisctuits if you intend to hang them up inside the cage.
3. Bake the biscuits in the oven at 350 until very hard.
4. Allow to cool before offering them to your gerbils. I hope your gerbils like them as much as mine did!
