what kind of cage should i get?
AQUARIUMS- aquariums are one of my most favorite kind of cage to use because gerbils love to dig and burrow and you can fill it with lots of bedding to fulfill thier digging needs without happening to clean up all the spilt beeding every day . but thier disadbantage is the lack of air supply but as lond as you have a wire mesh topping it shouldn't be a problem
METAL BARS- metal bar cages i also use with my gerbils there advantages to them is the air supply you will never have to worry about but thier disadvantage is that they will kick beding out alot all over the floor.also the tempture the bars can heat up or be very cold .
PLASTIC CAGES- or habit trails fulfill there tunnel needs but usually made of plastic and end up being scratched so you can no longer see in and may even chew thru and when one day you wake up and notice your gebil is missing .

what do i need?
what you should have for your gerbil is a wheel , a food dish ,a water bottle NOT a dish of water this will not do it will tip it ,play in it,throw stuff in it the thing it probably WON'T do is drink from it .(this may not be for a gerbils some do but very few)=) also a block of wood or in the pet store you can buy nibble sticks what they do is keep its teeth trimed and healthy .
